Karele Ki Sabzi
Ingredients:
- 100 grams karela /ucche (cut into medium cubes)
- 1 medium size potato (peel and cut into small cubes)
- 1/8 tsp. kalonji (black cumin)
- 1/2 tsp. ginger (grated)
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp. coriander powder
- 2 + 2 tbsp. mustard oil
- Salt
- 1/8 tsp. sugar
- 1 cup water
For Lentil cake:
- 1/4 cup matar dal (Yellow Split Pea)
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Making Procedure:
Soak the dal 4-5 hours. Drain the water from soaked dal and grind into a smooth paste adding a very little water. Take a mixing bowl. Pour the lentil paste into it. Then add salt, sugar to it and mix well.
Add 2 tbsp. oil into the same kadai. Add kalonji, karela, potato cubes; stir well and fry until the veggies turn into golden colour. Then add grated ginger, turmeric & coriander powder. Mix well and fry for a minute.
Then add water, salt and sugar. Stir well and cook it covered for 8-10 minutes on low heat. After that open the lead and add fried lentil cake. Again cook it covered until the veggies are completely done.
Serve warm with plain rice.
