Chinese Chicken Lollipop / Drums of Heaven
Ingredients:
- 5 chicken legs
- 2 medium onion (cut into thin slices)
- 1/2 medium yellow bell pepper (cut into medium slices)
- 1/2 medium green bell pepper (cut into medium slices)
- 1 1/2 tsp. ginger paste
- 1 1/2 tsp. garlic paste
- 50g tomato ketchup
- 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. red chili powder
- 50g cornflour
- 1 egg
- 2-3 tbsp.oil
- Oil for deep fry
- Salt to taste
- 150 ml water
For marination:
- 2 tsp. ginger paste
- 2 tsp. garlic paste
- 1 tsp. white pepper powder
- 8-10 dry red chilies (make a paste)
- A pinch of salt
Making procedure:
Marinate the chicken with all the ingredients from marination list and keep it in refrigerator for 1 hour. Then add cornflour, egg and mix well.
Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the marinated chicken pieces till golden in colour. Remove the chicken pieces from oil and keep warm.
Heat 2-3 tbsp. oil in another kadai and fry onion for 2 minutes on medium heat. Add green & yellow bell pepper and fry for 3-5 minutes on low heat. Then add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute on medium heat.
Now add tomato ketchup and worcestershire sauce and stir the mixture for a minute. Add fried chicken pieces, sugar and salt. Stir well and fry it for 1-2 minutes on low heat.
After that add water, mix well and cook it covered for 10-12 minutes on low heat or until it reaches your desired consistency.
Remove from heat and garnish with broken red & green chilies or bell pepper.
Serve hot with fried rice or chowmein.
