Green Peas Curry
Ingredients:
- 1 cup green peas (parboiled)
- 2 medium potatoes (peel and cut into small cubes)
- 2 medium onions (cut into cubes)
- 1 big tomato (cut into cubes)
- 1" ginger (cut into small cubes)
- 16-18 cloves garlic
- 2 green chilies (broken)
- 1/4 cup coriander leaves (chopped)
- 1 tbsp. cashew nuts (make a paste with 1 tsp. water)
- 1 tsp. coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp. red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp. garam masala powder
- A pinch of sugar
- 3 + 1 tbsp. oil
- Salt to taste
- 100-150 ml water
To temper:
- 1" cinnamon stick
- 3 green cardamom
- 4-5 cloves
Making Procedure:
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add onion and fry for 2 minutes on medium heat. Then add tomato, ginger, garlic, green chilies, coriander leaves and fry until the tomatoes are soft and pulpy. Then let it cool and grind the onion tomato mixture into a fine paste and keep aside.
Heat 3 tbsp. oil in a kadai and temper with cinnamon stick, green cardamom & cloves. Then add potatoes and fry it till golden. Add onion tomato paste and fry it for 2 minutes on low heat.
After that add coriander-red chili-turmeric-garam masala powder and fry well on low heat till the oil comes out from the sides. Now add cashew paste, salt and sugar. Mix well, add green peas and water. Stir well and cook it covered for 8-10 minutes on low heat.
Garnish with few chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with roti.
