Topse / Mango Fish Batter Fry
Ingredients:
- 250 grams topse / mango fish
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- Mustard oil for deep fry
For the batter:
- 1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
- 1 tbsp. rice flour
- 1 tsp. ginger paste
- 2 tsp. garlic paste
- 1/8 tsp. kalonji / nigella seeds
- 1/8 tsp. red chili powder
- Salt as needed
- 1/3 cup water
Making Procedure:
Descaled and clean the fish. Then wash thoroughly till the water runs clear. After that smear turmeric powder and salt to the fish. Keep aside for 20-30 minutes.
In a large bowl prepare a batter with all the ingredients of the batter list (the batter looks like semi thick).
Heat oil in a wok and let it smoke. Then reduce the heat, dip each fish into the batter and carefully add it in the oil. Fry both sides till they turn golden brown and remove from the oil.
Serve hot with ketchup or hot & sweet sauce.
