Chicken Do Pyaaza














Ingredients:

  • 600 grams chicken with bone (cut into medium pieces)
  • 1 1/2 cup red onion (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup onion (slices)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. garlic paste
  • 2 tsp. garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 100 ml + 1 tbsp. oil
  • 250 ml warm water

For Marination:
  • 2 tbsp. ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp. cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp. coriander powder
  • 1 tsp. red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. vinegar

Making Procedure:


Clean and wash the chicken. Then marinate the chicken with all the spices of marinate list, cover and keep aside for 2 hours.

Heat 1 tbsp. oil in a fry pan and add onion slices. Fry till it turns golden brown colour and keep aside.

Heat 100 ml oil in a kadai. Add chopped onion and fry till it gets light pink colour. Add garlic paste and fry for a minute. Add marinated chicken and fry for 3-5 minutes low to medium heat (Stir often).

Add salt and 50 ml water; cook on medium heat for 5 minutes. Cover the lid and cook for 5-7 minutes on low flame. Then add the remaining water in two steps at 10-15 minutes break; cook until the chicken is tender and the gravy thickens.

After that turn off the flame. Add fried onion and sprinkle garam masala powder over it. Then cover with the lid and wait for 5-10 minutes.

Serve with plain rice, roti or paratha.
