Sardine Fish Curry


Ingredients:

  • 500 Grams Sardine fish (cut into halves) 
  • 1 cup onion (finely chopped)
  • 5-6 cloves of garlic (grated)
  • 4-5 green chilies (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp. ginger (grated)
  • 5-6 tbsp. mustard oil
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. mustard paste (dissolved in 1 tbsp. water)
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt (for marinate)
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder (for marinate)
  • Salt to taste
  • 150 ml water

Making Procedure:


Clean and wash the fishes. Then marinate them with 1/4 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder for 5 minutes.

Heat mustard oil in a wok or kadai till it smoke. Then reduce heat and add fish pieces. Fry it on medium heat. Remove fishes from the wok and keep it aside.

Now add chopped onion and fry till the edges turn light brown color. Then add grated garlic, ginger and chopped green chilies. Fry it for a minute and then add mustard paste, salt and turmeric powder. Mix well and cook it till the oil separates.


Then add 150 ml water. When it starts boiling add fried fishes and cook it covered for 5 minutes on low flame or till the gravy is thick.

Remove from heat and garnish with slitted green chilies.

Serve hot with plain rice.
